About this speaker
Irene currently serves as the Licensing and Synch Coordinator at Rimas Publishing,
where she manages a catalogue of over 150 artists, producers and composers from all
over Latin America including Chile, Colombia, Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic
and Puerto Rico. As part of her day, she handles music licensing requests and creates
opportunities to connect her clients' music with different audiovisual projects on a global
scale. In her role, she combines a creative perspective with a strategic approach,
prioritizing proposals that amplify the voices of creators.
Trained as a filmmaker, Irene earned a Master’s degree in Film, Video, New Media, and
Animation from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Bachelor’s degree in
Film Production from Sarah Lawrence College. She also studied at the University of
Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, and at the University of Havana, which deepened
her interest in the intersections of art, politics, and Caribbean music.
Throughout her career, she has worked at the crossroads of film, music, and education.
She was post-production coordinator for videos such as Rookie of the Year (Young Miko
x Sprite), and has managed archives and licensing for productions like El Apagón by
Bad Bunny and Juanes: Origen on Amazon Prime. She taught at the University of
Puerto Rico and the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón, offering courses on feminist
horror, experimental animation, and digital art production.
